Role of Media in national crisis - panel discussion

On Thursday the 19th October 2000, a panel discussion on "Role of Media in National Crisis - Lessons from the past" was held.  Mr V Vaikunth, (formerly Director General of Police, Tamilnadu), Prof. Josephine (Head of the Department of Mass Communication, University of Madras) and Mr K N Arun (Chief of Bureau, Jain TV) were the panelists.  It was an interactive session with the audience also.  Eminent personalities of the City attended the programme.

Sreenath Sreenivasan talk on 'Emerging trends in journalism'


Prime Point Foundation jointly with Madras Union of Journalists (MUJ)  organised a talk by Prof. Sreenath Sreenivasan, Associate Professor of Journalism, Columbia University and Founder of South Asian Journalists' Association (SAJA)  on Sunday the 30th July 2000.  Prof. Sreenath talked on "Emerging Trends in Journalism" Despite being a Sunday, nearly 150 pr and media professionals participated in the programme.

Mr K Srinivasan, Founder of Prime Point Foundation and Mr E Gopal, Secretary, MUJ were also present.

Mr R Narasimhan, one of the Founders of Madras Union of Journalists (MUJ) was honoured by Prof. Sreenath Sreenivasan.  MUJ was founded nearly 50 years ago.

Many senior journalists of the city participated.

Talk on social implications of IT revolution by Dr M Ananda Krishnan

On 17th July 2000, the Foundation organised a talk by Dr M Ananda Krishnan, Vice Chairman, Higher Education Council for Tamilnadu and IT Advisor to Government of Tamilnadu.  He made a presentation on "Social implications of Information Technology Revolution" on Monday the 17th July 2000.

Mr B Suresh Kamath, Chairman of Laser Soft Infosystems Limited, one of the leading Banking software developers of India addressed the gathering as the Chief Guest

New Media content and communication - workshop

Prime Point Foundation and New Media Forum jointly organised a half a day workshop on "New Media Content and Communication" at Hall of Guines  68, Anna University, Madras on Sunday the 24th June 2001.  Nearly 60 Media professionals participated.
